Module 2 – Advanced Composite Structures – Damage Evaluation and Repair
This course challenges the trainee with more complex repairs, utilizing advanced “Pre-Preg” materials. Trainees perform repairs with state-of-the-art “HOT BONDERS”. The focus of this module is on the more advanced lightweight ( aircraft ) glass / carbon structures and includes instruction in basic “metal to metal” bonding.
Topics covered in this 5-day course include:
- carbon fiber structures and bonded repairs to thin, highly stressed ( aircraft ) structures
- concentrates on more difficult and advanced repair situations & techniques
- preparation of both composite and aluminum surfaces for adhesive bonding ( PANTA )
- programming “hot bonders” for control of accelerated cures and pre-preg fibers
- performing repairs referencing the SRM ( Structural Repair Manual ) for various aircraft.
Prerequisites: We strongly recommend Module 1 or equivalent theory and practical experience.
Certification:
CAMC – this is a Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council Accredited Course
