Module 3 - Advanced Structural Repair Methods - “Beyond the SRM”
This 5 day training course is a comprehensive introduction to the principals and practices associated with the repair of aircraft composite structures, which have sustained damage beyond the limitations for repair in a manufacturer’s Structural Repair Manual.
In the absence of accurate structural repair data, trainees will participate in group workshops requiring the preparation and presentation of an engineering repair data package. This course is based upon aircraft structural repair techniques and design data. The methods and “hands-on” techniques may also be applied to advanced automotive & marine structures.
Topics covered in this 5-day course
- new advanced composites structures and materials, Fiber Metal Laminates / GLARE etc.
- analysis techniques for determining damage
- practical exercises to create repair designs to damaged structures
- material properties& substitutions
- the format of a Compliance Program for repair approvals
- practical application of techniques for complex repairs of composite and metal bonded structures
Prerequisites: We recommend ACT’s Module 1 and Module 2, or equivalent practical experience and training in aircraft composite structural repair.
