RIP – Resin Infusion Processing

This 5 day course will provide the trainee with the essential knowledge, methods and techniques for Resin Infusion Processing of advanced composites structures. 

Materials management, equipment requirements, theory and design of RIP projects and composites shop environmental requirements will be demonstrated. Trainees will also benefit from instruction by Certified Composites Technicians in an actual aircraft maintenance and composites production facility. This course may be instructed on-site at any location if the appropriate facilities are available.

Topics covered in this 5-day course:

  • New trends in advanced composite materials & processes
  • the science behind the theory, behind the practical uses of RIP
  • Detection & prevention of flaws and damage in RIP composites
  • Resin / fiber systems, cores, and materialsspecific to vacuum infusion
  • Health and safety issues for composites operations
  • Vacuum bagging materials & tools specific to RIP applications
  • Basic laminate design considerations for tooling structures
  • Issues specific to standard air cure and autoclave cure tools
  • Mold and tooling design for aerospace / aviation / automotive / industrial
  • Troubleshooting RIP molds and a review of the most common problems using vacuum resin infusion processes, procedures and quality assurance

Prerequisites: Prior composites experience or training is not required.

Certification:

FAA – Federal Aviation Administration acceptable towards Inspection Authorization IA Renewal Training
