- Mr. Jeff Gilbert brings more than twenty years of experience in the ultrasonic/acoustic inspection of Advanced Composite materials and bonded structures to the ACT. Jeff has an exceptional and unique background in the aerospace industry, with career experience on some of the most advanced projects in this technology. His teaching style is open, relaxed and simply awe inspiring as Jeff references his time with NASA and his experiences working on the Space Shuttle and the Hubble telescope.
- Jeff’s career began as a licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. Working for the US Air Force as a civilian technician at the Air Logistics Center in Sacramento, California, he inspected Advanced Composite and bonded assemblies on the F-111 and A-10 aircraft.
- Moving to McDonnell Douglas (Aircraft Division), Jeff was the lead development inspector for the new C-17 Globemaster III program which included the development and implementation of new technologies in non-destructive inspection techniques.
- On to Applied Aerospace Structures Corporation, Jeff helped install a new NDT facility for the inspection of advanced aerospace structures and became one of the first engineers to implement air-coupled ultrasonics into a production environment.
- When reviewing his experience, it becomes apparent Jeff has always been at the forefront of NDI technologies. His many accomplishments include development and implementation of “state-of-the-art” NDI programs for the Hubble Space Telescope, the Airborne Laser Platform, the E2C Hawkeye radome program, commercial aircraft and satellite systems, including the bonded structures of the Space Infrared Telescope.
